First Baseball Game & A Laughing Lady

Two big milestones in the Baranko household.  We took Lukers to his FIRST ever baseball game and Miss Claire revealed her adorable laugh.  Both events were super cute.  Other than that, just another week of fun for us in this charmed life we lead:)

All ready to go!  White Sox hat, shirt and black & white shoes that Luke now calls his "baseball" shoes.  Thank goodness Nathan and Ben Sosne were Sox fans, or else Luke wouldn't have anything to wear to his big game:)

Luke enjoyed all the ballpark faves, like hot dogs and popcorn.
We spent most of the game chasing him around the ballpark, especially the ramps.  We spent about 4 minutes in our seats:)  Look at the pretty skyline we saw from the top walking ramp.

He doesn't like to hold hands either, so we basically just followed him around and made sure he didn't walk into anyone.  That's me with my essential ball park beer trailing after him.  What's the good thing about a week day afternoon Sox game on a cold day in April?  Not many crowds.

Bahahahahaha!  That ceiling fan is hilarious!

Bedheads
We had a sunny, nice day on Monday so I took Luke to a new park after his
gymnastics class.
This park also had hiking trails.  Mommy & Luke time is the best:)
Singing his ABC's to Claire, except then he tried to put all of his weight on the swing.
Something else funny must have happened.  Are you winking at me, lady?
Hi big girl!
My view from the couch:)
Playdate with former work friend Kim and her kids Charlotte & Cole
Cole is a 2 yr old like Luke, he would prefer not to wear pants
4 yr old Charlotte was supremely obsessed with Claire.  As cute as she was, it made me a little grateful that Luke has such limited interest in Claire.  It was hard work making sure Charlotte didn't literally smother Claire with love!
Kim
Pretty baby wore this dress to her playdate.
Checking out the cool stream in Grandma and Grandpa Baranko's new house's backyard.
Saturday night Matt and I went to a Derby themed fundraiser/party for Luke's new preschool, Kinderhaven.  He starts next fall, but the fundraising started immediately, ha!  We had a great time meeting other parents and I liked wearing my big hat.  Matt's wearing his new seersucker shirt and  I was happy to get another use out of my new "in between sizes" dress, too.  Thanks for babysitting both kids Donna and Emil!
Smiley pants!
It is exhausting being so smiley.

Just a "normal" week on maternity leave

After the fun and busyness of having Kristin and PJ here, then all our guests for the baptism weekend, we had a week of normalcy (as normal as maternity leave is!) to enjoy.  We had nice visits with family and friends.  You'll see that Claire and I are "ladies who lunch".  There are a bunch of pics of us enjoying the usual cuteness of Luke & Claire.  We had bad news last Thursday when we woke up to find our basement flooded again.  Boo!  This happened in 2010, so unfortunately Matt knows just what it takes to get it back up and running.  This time the basement is Luke's playroom, so he is without his main play area for a while.

In other news, I don't think I gave the update yet that Donna and Emil officially bought their new house in Waukegan!  They closed this week and they move in on May 16th.  They have been busy fixing it up before they move in.  Congrats guys!  Matt also closed on another income property, a duplex.  He is now actively renovating two properties, as well as working part-time at his old job, and also dealing with me wanting him home to hang out with me all day every day.  Ha! We have been going on "dates" when Luke is sleeping and Isolene watches Claire.  Since the weather hasn't been that great, our dates have been doing things like running errands to Home Depot or the like, but they are pretty fun.  I keep telling him that this is a magical time where we have child care and we both have free time, we need to take advantage of it as much as possible!

Cousin Theresa and her fiancee Jesus came up when Ben & Linda and Mom & Dad were still in town the day after the baptism.  Great to see Theresa and meet Jesus (the baby whisperer)!  They are getting married Labor Day weekend.

Theresa and Claire
She fits in 3 mo and 3-6 mo outfits now, so it is fun to dress her up in all her new clothes - like this outfit!
Luke likes this outfit, too.
Kisses for his baby sis
Luke playing at his new music class.  I get to take him to almost all of his activities now while I'm home.  It is so fun!
Lunch with my old boss, Amy Wagner:)
First trip to Walgreens!
Who's that kid peaking out behind us?
Lunch with Flora Ward, a friend from work
Visit with grad school friend and Lake Forest neighbor Katherine.
He was a little under the weather one afternoon.  He actually stood still for a second!
Getting ready for bathtime.  Look at that roly poly baby!
Basement underwater.
Our whole street flooded again.
Playdate with neighbors Caroline and Max on Friday
Sat am playdate downtown with grad school friends Barb & Ross and their kids Caleb & Baby Evie
Ross and Claire
Caleb and Luke are only a few months apart in age.  It was hard to get both of them to pose for a photo.

Stopped by the Botanical Gardens on the way home on Saturday, still cold so not many flowers yet.
What's up doc?
Went for a walk at Ft. Sheridan on Sunday.  Yes, it is the end of April and the trees are bare and we are all bundled up.

Trying to do the baptism hand print for the frame G&G Mackus gave Claire.  More paint got on her I think!

Claire meets U. Ben, A. Linda, Katie and is baptized!

We had a big weekend with tons of remarkable happenings!  Claire was able to meet her godmother, Katie (in from Tucson), her godfather/Uncle Ben, and her Aunt Linda (both in from Idaho Falls).  And as if that wasn't enough excitement, she was also baptized.  That meant a big party with her Grandma and Grandpa (in town again from Tuscon), and her other family members here to help celebrate.  We had such a fun weekend enjoying everyone's company.  It was so nice to see everyone enjoying Claire as much as we do, and Luke too!  Claire was such a good baby, as always.  She was quiet as a mouse the whole mass, and she actually smiled just before the water was poured over her head for the baptism.  It was so special that Claire wore the baptismal gown that Grandma Della made for my father to wear to his baptism over 60 years ago!  It still looks gorgeous, with probably about a dozen children baptized in it to date.

First moments with Katie!
Last Baranko family dinner in the old Downers Grove house, so last family picture in front of the fireplace.
End of an era!!

Big family dinner Saturday night.

Sunday morning Grandpa spends quality time with Claire while we get ready for the baptism party.
More blocks with Grandma - she's such a fun Grandma to always play with me!
Adorable diaper cover from the Yttre's - worn under her baptismal gown
