A Richardson New Year

We rounded out the holiday season with an eventful New Year's and post-New Year's.  We hosted a NYE party with Matt's side, then had an impromptu ringing in of the New Year with the Hartman's after all of our guests left kind of early.  Then the Richardson's came into town for their annual visit.  We  love love love when they are able to squeeze us in when they are in town!  So much fun.

Claire sucking her thumb is an all-day thing.  Got that from Mom.

Yea I'm talking 'bout you!

Luke "hides" every time somebody comes in the house.  This is his usual hiding place - cramming himself between the couch cushions.

He's very proud of himself every time he hides.

Copy cat Claire does everything he does - "my turn hide"

Isolene snapped this picture one day - she fell asleep during her lunch!  Guess it was somebody's nap time!

New Year's Eve fun - Lennon, River, Orrin and Lila coming over made for a great kid's playdate.

Uncle Mike helping Claire with her coloring

Football watchin' in the other room.
Spaghetti dinner

Kid's table
Rebecca & Peter were game for popping over at 10pm to help us celebrate the New Year- they're so fun!

New Year's Day the Richardson's came into town:)  Yippee!!  I hadn't seen Isabelle since August, and the kids hadn't seen her since last January!

What a cutie pie!!

Went to the Holiday Winter Wonderland lights display - where you drive through tons and tons of holiday lights.  The kids loved pointing out all the characters and holiday sights.

Storytime in the reading nook.

Isabelle was very curious about our book Madeline.

She had many questions, she cracks me up!

Spumoni keeping Isabelle company before bed

Visited the Botanic Gardens holiday train display

It "snows" in there multiple times an hour.  Luke caught a few flakes on his tongue.

Watching the "making of" video in the auditorium

Claire being a wild thing

Luke actually sat and watched most of the video - last year he was still the one being wild up on the stage like Claire.

I love this picture because it is my life.  Luke, where are you going?

Mid afternoon snacks while waiting to bowl at nearby Fatman Bowl

They were pretty cute bowlers

Isabelle was a great bowler
Claire wasn't interested in staying near the alley - she kept running back to the arcade

Waiting for your ball to go down the lane is hard work, better take a rest here.
We had to wait a reeaaaalllly long time to bowl

With the lack of attention span with my kids, we ended up only bowling less than 1 game for a total of 40 minutes.  So that was 4 adults and 2 toddlers for just over 30 minutes after we had waited for over an hour.  We had a bit of a situation with the place when they charged us $167 and let Joe walk out of there!!!  It was a partial mistake/total humongous rip off - Katie fought it for us and we ended up paying just $54, which we still thought was way too much!!  What happened to bowling being cheap?

A fun bath before the Richardson's headed out the next morning.  Brushing their teeth while taking a bath with their special colored bath drops.

Finally got some snow!

Claire did a snow angel right next to Luke, but I wasn't quite quick enough with the camera.

Pink powder puff princess - she just stands there mostly and eats snow.  Don't eat the yellow snow Claire!

Snowblowin'

Claire trying to shovel snow too with her special shovel from G&G

Spumoni loved the snow, that's for sure

Sunday Mom and I headed over to Schaumburg for Kevin & Julie's baby shower

So fun to see all my Kurz cousins and aunts

We're always a zany bunch!

Kevin & Julie are going to be the best parents!  They are so cute!

Carpenter Weekend

The fun continued into another weekend with the Carpenter's visit to Chicagoland.  Saturday we had a really fun girls outing (minus Claire, too little) to see Newsies in Chicago.   We had treated Grandma Della to the show as her Christmas present, so we got to enjoy her company all day Saturday, too.  The show was dynamite!  Sunday we made our annual Carpenter/Baranko trip to nearby Key Lime Cove and it did not disappoint.  For Matt and I it was more fun than ever with Luke so much more independent, and Claire our little fearless water baby.  The kids LOOOOVVVEE  Paige and they are so cute all playing together.  It was awesome having more time with them all weekend before they left for home, especially our little baby Sebastian!

Delayed "old Grandad" shot celebrating Seb's birth!

So rare that Luke plays with Spumoni that I had to snap a pic

Snuggles & cartoons:)

Claire loved Key Lime Cove

She didn't want us to catch her at the bottom - Miss Independent

PJ & Luke slide races

New goggles were well-liked by Lukers

Napping was a little unusual that day

Seb had a good little snooze in the stroller

SOOOO cute!
