Johanning Family Reunion + Camp Grandma & Grandpa for Luke

The month it seems like everybody grew up - August, 2018.

Luke flipped a switch a bit.   He's not coming into our bed to snuggle every morning (only some of the mornings), he's reading at night in his bed and sometimes he decides he'd rather read than have his 7 minutes of laying with Mom time listening to our favorite steel drum song together.  He's reading all the time, so he doesn't talk to us as much as he used to.  We actually have to have rules about no reading at the table during meals.  What is happening?!  My baby!!!

Claire also is getting a lot more independent.  She makes her own bed, brushes her own teeth and gets herself dressed.  She likes to shut the door and magically do all these things herself so that when she opens the door she is ready to go, so proud of all she has done by herself.  Love her independence, but kind of miss her dependence too now that it seems to have floated away all too soon.

We had another fun summer week hanging with our friends and going to WI for my Johanning Family Reunion.  Luke stayed in WI for a few days to hang out with Mom and Dad and they had a great time together.

This is how we find her sleeping sometimes.

Iso took this pic of Luke boogy boarding at the Lake Forest beach one day.

Dinner group night at the Hartman's house.  She set up a gorgeous dinner on the outdoor patio.  Such a fun night!

Boat day with Lisa and the kids, plus old friends Doug and Jade (from Matt's Paschen days) and their girls

Party Saturday night at Matt's friend Eric's house

Went to the Johanning Family Reunion in Mazomanie, WI on Sunday

My Grandma's last reunion:(  It was nice to be there and see everyone.

They now have this fun splash pad there next to the municipal pool I used to swim in as a child going to reunions there.

My Grandmother's generation

My Dad's generation

Dad's generation with spouses:)

Love my parent's backyard in the summer, so relaxing under the pergola

Dinner out in downtown Brookfield - easy train viewing

Luke stayed with Mom and Dad for "Camp Grandma and Grandpa" from Sunday until Tuesday

games were played

lake swimming was enjoyed
beach snoozes were had

ice cream was indulged in

S'mores were created

Fun times seemed to have been had by all three of them.

Meanwhile, Matt installed the new spiral staircase at the lake house.  Now you can get to the deck from outside and you can get to the outdoor lakefront area from the deck.  Awesome!  I'm so impressed Matt was able to order this and install it himself.  Handy to have this contractor husband of mine.
