Barn Couples Weekend

August, 2021

Last August Matt and I went on a couples getaway near Spring Green, WI with some of our friends.  We stayed in a rental house that was a converted barn, which was so neat.  We had such a great time!  We enjoyed fabulous meals, had fabulous amenities, and had so many laughs it was ridiculous.  We played cards both nights and it got really heated and hilarious.  Unfortunately, though, what I thought was an innocuous summer cold turned out to be a COVID breakthrough case (when this was still really rare - especially since I already supposedly had COVID and was double vaxxed!).  So, yea, that news wasn't so great for me or for my friends who I exposed (sorry, again, Hartmans!).  The CDC hypothesis is that I picked up COVID at the Lake Forest Day festival, also pictured below.  At least I found out in time before I hit the Johanning Family Reunion that Sunday on our way home from the barn weekend, which had been the original plan.  We'll just be grateful for that.

The men went to this bar for a while to drink like the locals.

Not sure what is happening in the corn fields.  Photo shoot?

Crazy storm rolled in while we were at the winery.

The guys got matching shirts at the bar they went to, Honkers.

Waiting to be fed, apparently.

McCarney's made a stupendous meal

Last breakfast in the barn - stone fruit over specialty waffles, yum!
