Marvelous Memorial Day

What a terrific Memorial Day weekend we had.  The great weather helped a ton and we managed to find that delicate balance of things to do and nothing to do.

I started the long weekend with a fun lunch with Shannon at the Botanic Gardens, her first time there!

Then Matt took us ladies out for a spin in the boat.

Super cutie

Danger zone with this one driving....

Love her head on his shoulder.  Whenever we get there she reaches up for one or both of them.

D&E got a ton of landscaping work done to their new home.  It looks amazing.

Claire is always willing to pitch in

Luke, too.  In this case he is "helpfully" moving all the brick pavers that were placed there.

Love how D&E are so interactive with the kids all the time.

Case in point - they let the kids climb all over them and they roll all around to make them laugh.

We're trying to wean Luke off of the naps, but he sometimes can't quite make it and falls asleep.  We're still using pull ups at night because he doesn't wake up to go to the bathroom yet.  Matt took some precautions here when Luke fell asleep with a garbage bag and towel underneath him.

Luke must have found the photo trick options on the iPad

Claire is starting to watch TV when Luke is watching his shows, and she actually watches it not just for a nanosecond before running away.  This is much younger than Luke was.  Part of me is glad because it means you can get 5 minutes to do something sans kids if you really need to, but on the other hand it isn't good for her to watch TV, I realize.

Sunday we had some friends over for a pool party - tons of kids!

All the toys outside, plus the pool and sandbox and bounce house, and the boys all liked the toy trucks inside.

After everyone left we had a chance to take a leisurely swim just the 4 of us.

First campfire of the season!  Luke went to the pantry and got the smores supplies himself when he thought we weren't getting them fast enough.

She thought she was some kind of wonderful when she climbed up on top of the coffee table.

Luke honing his photography skills again

Nice bike ride on Sunday.  I think Matt definitely felt like it was totally worth it to load up 3 bikes and a bike trailer, 2 kids and 1 wife into our car for about a 45 minute bike ride.  I just got to enjoy, and enjoy I did!

This trail was flooded and closed a couple days before we were there.

Luke got sick of riding his bike and opted to ride along with Claire instead.  There was a good stretch of road where they were elbowing each other, each one protesting the other's body parts in their personal space.  It was a preview of the fighting that I'm sure is going to come fast and furious.  I mean Claire doesn't even talk yet!  It took snacks for each of them to get them to cool it and sit in harmony.

Played at the playground after our bike ride.

The Sosne's helped us celebrate Memorial Day.

Is that the end of the post?  I'm afraid so, curly cue.
