Holiday Get Together

Let's see....this week's highlights:
- Fun get together at Valerie's with my former swim friends
- Luke and I went bowling for the first real time (Thanksgiving last year really didn't count in my opinion, since he bowled like one ball only)
- Made Christmas cookies
- Saw the Holiday Train

On the way home from our bowling date Luke told me that he hoped that when we got home Claire would be awake from her nap, because he really likes playing with her.  Awwww.

Claire's twirling is still OOC (out of control).  Matt had this great idea to leave one part of her hair always out from the braids to give her something to twirl so she wouldn't pull more out.  It was the sacrificial piece of hair that soon was dubbed "the dread lock."  That plan worked almost perfectly until the constant twirling caused the dread lock to fall off, so now she's back to choosing new hair to wreak havoc with.  Looks like there will have to be a hair cut in Claire's stocking for Christmas....

The Christmas tree in Lake Forest is up and lit!

Sprinkles!

Kristin sent this super cute Santa Baby pic of Seb - can't wait to see him in only a week!!!
The gang is back together!
The kids played so well together independently, with Claire following the big boys around - it was the first time that Matt and I could just sit and socialize, awesome new phase of parenting!

Luke just randomly went to the basement and put together Matt's trombone and we heard him playing it!

St Nick came a night late - not that the kids noticed.  We're still doing both the IL shoe tradition and the WI stocking tradition.

Bowling at "Batman" Bowl (It is really called Fatman Bowl, but Luke kept saying Batman and it was so cute)

Official shoes and everything

Before I realized that bumpers were available Luke got about 8 balls stuck in the middle of the lane in the gutters.  This was his favorite pose for watching his ball reach its destination.

Icing the cookies we made the day before

Tasting the deliciousness

Holiday Train!  This train makes its way on a huge loop from the West Coast of Canada all the way to the East coat of America and then back again.  It happened to stop in Gurnee for 45 minutes, so Matt and the kids got a glimpse while I went to swim practice.

First fire of the season

Very cozy
Claire poured out this entire thing of dry wheat baby cereal and the was eating it with a spoon.

Our community center does this cute thing where they have volunteer "elves" help your child choose Christmas gifts for others from a special kids only market.  Teaches giving and the kids love it.  Luke promptly told us all what he got us, but he is excited to give them to us nonetheless.

Isolene's been getting in the holiday spirit.  Red and green pancakes for the kids one morning were a big hit.

Luke wanted to set out the cookies we made for Santa a good 2 weeks early.  I think he partially just wanted easier access to the cookies by having them on the floor for him to eat.
