Blue Class Program

On Wednesday May 13th Luke was "promoted" from the Blue Class to the Red Class, which will be the final year of his preschool career.  The Blue Class put on a pretty great program.  They sang songs and recited their lines and got their certificates.  There was tons of cuteness and Luke was so proud of himself.

P.S.  Look how he is almost a head taller than most of the kids in his class.
They all recited lines from their favorite space/planet song.  Luke's was "I'm humungous and gargantuan" - Jupiter!  He did great!
Singing their song "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine..." with their blinking star necklaces.

For the past couple weeks Emil has been in North Dakota doing volunteer farming for Farm Rescue.  This organization provides planting and harvesting assistance to farm families that have experienced a major injury, illness or natural disaster.  Emil grew up on a farm, and apparently these are skills you never quite lose!  Farming is in your blood forever.  The things he did were amazing.  It sounds like he had really long, hard working days but he LOVED it!  I can't tell you how his face just lit up when he told us about the state of the art tractors and equipment he got to operate, the acres of land he planted, the people he met.  He was really in his element!  I think he's going to volunteer again in the Fall for harvesting season.

And some other recent pictures this week....

Claire has been waking up around 5am and we've been bringing her into bed with us for another 1.5 of shut-eye.  No matter if I go get her or if Matt does, she scooches over to be almost on top of me before settling in to fall asleep.

Pool opened this week!  Claire dipping her toes into the freezing cold hose water.

The age old toy of choice - a big box!

Donna and Emil came back from their trip out West and gave the kids these new cowboy hats.  Emil drove from North Dakota to Idaho and met Donna out there for Ben's graduation and then they road tripped it back to IL together.
