My first official week of work back in June, I actually went to San Diego on my first business trip! Day 3 of employment I was being picked up in a fancy town car (VIP style!) to go to the airport to go to San Diego with my new boss and her boss in order to meet a whole division of Abbott employees all in town for a global meeting. It was a nice trip and great to have quality time with my new leaders, but the only problem was that my trip conflicted with the first day of the Ragnar Relay race. This is the 200 mile relay race from Madison to Chicago. Unfortunately Matt couldn't run the race because of his calf injury (boo!!) and then I had to bail on the whole first leg of the race. But Matt, always the supportive and amazing life partner that he is, he drove me all the way up to the middle of Wisconsin as soon as I flew in from San Diego so I could meet up with the group and run by second and third legs of the race. It was crazy to run in the middle of the night and sleep in a YMCA for a few hours, but quite the experience at the same time. Then we had a fun birthday party Sat night and a great pool day on Sunday. It was not a week I would soon forget!

| My airport hotel had nice views of the harbor |
| Breakfast for 1 (I ended up staying in a different hotel than my coworkers) |
| "Chafing the Dream" at the start of the race in Madison on Friday morning |
| Stopping for good ole Wisconsin Friday fish fry between legs of the race |
| Bethany, my friend from grad school, and her husband Jose organized the whole relay team |
| Tonya, another friend from Kellogg, also did the race |
| Sun is setting |
| We had two vans that switched off. The van not running got some shut eye. Night runners had to wear reflective vests and headlamps. |
| My nighttime leg was at 11:30pm and it was a warm and beautiful night, very enjoyable! |
| Justin got the gorgeous sunrise leg. |
| The race went right through Lake Forest, so the girls van came back to our house for some sleep and a big breakfast that Matt had prepared for us. |
| Meeting up with the guys for our last legs! |
| I finished up the race, bringing Chafing the Dream home into Montrose Harbor. It was SOOOOOOO hot and it was midday with no clouds. The 7 miles didn't feel so great, but I beat my goal time so was happy. |
| My girl teammates ran into the home stretch with me |
| That night we had Peter Hartman's surprise bd party. I wore the fancy shorts Mom & Dad gave me for my birthday from St Maarten, so I had to send them a picture. |
| Surprise!!! |
| The party was beautiful and fun. Rebecca did an awesome job. |
| Garden is really coming up nicely! |
| Roses look pretty |
| And our sedum ground cover is going crazy flowering too |
| Dancing queen |
| Making "pinkalicious" lemonade. The kids thought of clever things to make the lemonade pink, like bing cherries, strawberries and beets! |
| We love having our neighbor friends over on Sunday nights for swimming and dinner. It makes the weekend feel longer. Look at this one with Matt and the kids all in the air! |
| Happy girl |
