Mom & Dad Head Back to FL

With Mom's fractures and continued pain, plus the COVID risks, it was going to be difficult for her and Dad to get down to Florida for the winter.  Their usual road trip method as well as an alternate commercial flight option both posed significant challenges.  But it was imperative for Mom's mental and physical health that she get down there, away from the bitter cold and dreary gray skies of the Midwest in winter and into the sunshine and outdoor living of their second home.  Matt had the great idea to look into chartering a flight down to St. Petersburg from Waukesha, WI.  So that's what they did!  Matt arranged it all and they took a quick, direct, 2+ hour flight with plenty of room to stretch Mom's leg out.  Plus they could bring Dudley AND they didn't expose themselves to the COVID risks of airports and flights.  Perfect!  But they still needed to get their car and belongings down to Florida, so that's where Matt stepped in and offered to drive it down for them.  Whatta guy, whatta guy!  He was super ambitious and drove the 18 hours by himself, directly to Florida without even stopping to sleep overnight (and barely stopping at all for that matter).  He said by the end it was super tough.  You think??!  So grateful for him and grateful that Mom and Dad successfully got to Florida without immense pain in traveling for Mom, and without anybody getting COVID.  That's a win in my book!

Bonfire to celebrate Gina's birthday at Kate's house Friday night

Top Golf to celebrate Chris's birthday on Sat night.  I'm enjoying these outdoor social gatherings after a couple months of no social life.  

Steve was the first of our friends to be vaccinated - he's a pharmacist at a hospital.

Luke finished putting together all of his Christmas presents by mid-January.

I went down the night before their flight to hang out before they went to FL.  Cribbage time!

Private jet life is pretty nice!  Very swanky lounge before boarding.

First order of business in FL - lunch alfresco with a big margarita.  My kind of pit stop.

Meanwhile, Matt on his drive to FL

He arrived in the wee early morning and let himself into the house to get some sleep without waking the owners.

Turned around and flew home the same day.  Quick trip there and back!
